Welcome to 3rd Grade 2025-2026

I am so excited to meet all the students in my class this year! We’re going to have a great time together and learn a lot of fun things. I have many wonderful memories of when I was in third grade and I am excited to create more with you this school year! I will see you at Back to School Night on August 18th, and then on the First Day of School, August 20th! The first three days are short days with early dismissal.

Here are a few things you can do now:

Subscribe to the Blog: Please subscribe to the blog by clicking on the button to the right and filling out the form.

Supply List:  I am asking for money donations of $35 instead of you buying your child’s supplies. This means I do all the shopping, labeling and organizing.  Awesome, right? One less thing you have to worry about! However, this does not cover student headphones. Please send those with your child on the first day of school. To see what your donation will cover click on the class supply list under the Parent Information tab above, or click this link. Payments may be made on Quest’s website by clicking “Current Families,” then “Online Payments.” Enter my name and donation amount. You may also use the following link. ONLINE PAYMENTS
***If you would rather purchase the same items yourself, please send me an email ASAP (July 31st at the latest). I will send you a detailed list of supplies requirements to be purchased for your student. Otherwise any and all supplies brought from home will be returned home with your student.

Class Disclosure Statement: Please read and sign – Ms. Smith’s Class Disclosure

Food Permission Form: This is a blanket food permission form for the school year.  The food items on this list are ones we have used regularly in the past for class parties and for math, science, and ELA lessons. Please check all items that your child can have. There is a box for substitution suggests if your child cannot have items on the list. Food Permission Form

Parent Survey:  The following link is a short survey to help me get to know your child better.  Please take a few moments to fill it out. Parent Survey

One way that you can help your child over the summer is to READ!!! It is so important to have your child read for 20 minutes every day.

Week of April 14

Field Trip Donations/Fees

Field trip chaperones that are not paying full price entry at the museum need to have their $12 fee paid ASAP. Later this week, I will be contacting parents that do not have this payment completed to ensure that you are still attending the field trip. If something has changed, and you can no longer attend please let me know. Please also remember we are asking for a $6 donation for each child attending to help with the cost of the field trip.

If you can’t make it into the office to make these payments you are more than welcome to take care of them online. ONLINE PAYMENTS LINK

Field Trip Reminders

  • We are taking the FrontRunner to the Museum of Curiosity at Thanksgiving Point on Wednesday, April 23rd.
  • You must be at the Roy FrontRunner station by 8:00am (if chaperones could be there between 7:50-7:55am that would be so helpful to make sure everything runs smoothly).
  • Our train leaves at 8:15am (we can NOT wait for you or your student if you are late).
  • We will be back in Roy at 2:45pm so you will need to make arrangements for your student to be picked up at that time.
  • We are walking from the FrontRunner station to the museum and back (about 3/4 mile one way). Make sure your student is dressed appropriately.
  • Do NOT send your student with money the day of the field trip.

Important Dates:

  • April 23rd – Field Trip to the Museum of Curiosity
  • April 25th – Dollar Dress Down Day
  • May 5-9 – Book Fair
  • May 7-8, 12 – ELA RISE Testing
  • May 13-15 – Math RISE Testing

MATH – This week we will be finishing up PERIMETER WITH AREA.  There is an activity attached to the family letter below. This is a good activity to do with your child if you want to give them some extra practice. Please continue to work on multiplication facts with your child at home.

ELA: This week we will be working on Unit 6 Week 2 in our Wonders program. Below is an outline of what we are learning in class. Our emphasis will be on using text features to better understand the text.
