Week of April 14

Field Trip Donations/Fees

Field trip chaperones that are not paying full price entry at the museum need to have their $12 fee paid ASAP. Later this week, I will be contacting parents that do not have this payment completed to ensure that you are still attending the field trip. If something has changed, and you can no longer attend please let me know. Please also remember we are asking for a $6 donation for each child attending to help with the cost of the field trip.

If you can’t make it into the office to make these payments you are more than welcome to take care of them online. ONLINE PAYMENTS LINK

Field Trip Reminders

  • We are taking the FrontRunner to the Museum of Curiosity at Thanksgiving Point on Wednesday, April 23rd.
  • You must be at the Roy FrontRunner station by 8:00am (if chaperones could be there between 7:50-7:55am that would be so helpful to make sure everything runs smoothly).
  • Our train leaves at 8:15am (we can NOT wait for you or your student if you are late).
  • We will be back in Roy at 2:45pm so you will need to make arrangements for your student to be picked up at that time.
  • We are walking from the FrontRunner station to the museum and back (about 3/4 mile one way). Make sure your student is dressed appropriately.
  • Do NOT send your student with money the day of the field trip.

Important Dates:

  • April 23rd – Field Trip to the Museum of Curiosity
  • April 25th – Dollar Dress Down Day
  • May 5-9 – Book Fair
  • May 7-8, 12 – ELA RISE Testing
  • May 13-15 – Math RISE Testing

MATH – This week we will be finishing up PERIMETER WITH AREA.  There is an activity attached to the family letter below. This is a good activity to do with your child if you want to give them some extra practice. Please continue to work on multiplication facts with your child at home.

ELA: This week we will be working on Unit 6 Week 2 in our Wonders program. Below is an outline of what we are learning in class. Our emphasis will be on using text features to better understand the text.

Week of April 7

 Field Trip Information/Reminders

  • Chaperones have been notified if they were randomly selected to attend the field trip with us. Please note these chaperones need to have their $12 chaperone fee paid to the office by Friday, April 11th.
  • If you were not randomly selected as a chaperone you are still welcome to attend and pay full price entry at the museum ($27). You will still be treated as a chaperone and be given a group to help attend to. We have to do this because the museum limits the number of chaperones allowed at the discounted rate, but we would love for as many as possible to come!
  • Chaperones do NOT have to pay for their own train fare (this includes chaperones randomly selected and those paying full price at the museum).
  • We ask for a student field trip donation of $6 to be paid at the office. Please have this paid for by Friday, April 11th.
  • If you have not completed the field trip permission form, please have that done by Thursday, April 10th.

Multiplication Facts

At the end of the year we have a multiplication ice cream party. Many students are still working to earn their ice cream and toppings by passing off their multiplication facts. The end of the year is quickly approaching, so now is the time to crack down and memorize those facts! Each student should know which facts they are currently working towards passing off. Please ask your child what they are working on and what they need help with. I encourage you to take 5-10 minutes a day to work on these facts with your kids. And don’t overcomplicate it! Make some flashcards to keep in the car and practice on your way to and from school. If your child is unsure which facts they are working on, please reach out!
